A recent article featured on the Wall Street Journal digital network By Katherine Rosman | Photographs by Christopher Griffith entitled &#8220;A Handmade Tale&#8221; discusses the essence of the craftsman.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Artisan stands for quality. \u201cThe craftsman is a haughty figure,\u201d says Matthew B.  Crawford, the author of \u201cShop Class as Soulcraft: An Inquiry into the Value of  Work.\u201d \u201cHe does what he knows how to do well. If he finds an audience, that\u2019s  great. But for him it\u2019s about pride.\u201d Richard Sennett, the renowned sociologist  and professor at New York University and the London School of Economics, argues  in his 2008 book, \u201cThe Craftsman,\u201d that working with one\u2019s hands impacts  intellectual thought and philosophical reasoning. \u201cCraftsmanship is about doing  something well for its own sake,\u201d he says.
