Commissioning Process

Introduction:

First and foremost; this is not your local furniture store. Custom furniture is not mass produced; it’s not even made to order. There is no inventory, and no catalog. Each commission is an original design, a one-of-a-kind functional form. Commissioning a custom work is new to many of our customers, so we will do our best to walk you through the process and ensure that the final product meets your needs.

A custom commission is a new experience to many of our clients; so don't be afraid to call and ask questions. There may be a bit more effort than picking something out of a catalog, but the results are well worth the effort.

Check our new article entitled Artistic vs. Commssioned Represetation for a commentary on the commissionning process.

Furniture, built-in's, carving, sculpture; we treat each project like a work of art; we put our time and energy into its design and construction. Our names and reputation stays with each work, and since most of our business comes from word of mouth, we cannot afford to produce anything but a quality product.

We should also note that although this business is important to us, we also have family and other business obligations to meet. We are always up front and honest with our clients about expectations. We will tell you if a requested deadline is unrealistic, and we will not commit if we do not honestly believe we can do the work. Again, you are commissioning a truly custom work of art; we are not on a repeatable production schedule.

We have an ever growing electric portfolio, and have executed commissions we never conceived we would receive.
